Why would you post this shit here? Seems kind of ironic considering the author's radical position on pornography.

Once upon a time, this guy used to be a good comic writer. Now it's all about "MUH FEMINISM AND DOWN WITH THE PATRIARCHY."

It's a shame the content is so shit, because his art style seems to have massively improved. Used to be serviceable in a Calvin and Hobbes way, now it looks interesting and unique. Still, again, too bad it's wasted because of the fucking awful radical feminist dialogue, shitty soapbox of a plot that never went anywhere other than SJW bullshit, and no humor or smart satire whatsoever.

Just because the Erma comic and strip found a second home here doesn't mean any too bit shitty B&W strip should be uploaded here. Especially not shit like Ishida's straw feminism crap.

He's right that women shouldn't be commoditized, and that pornography, prostitution, and human trafficking can be serious problems, but this is just superficial pandering. Nothing about this is "radical" or "revolutionary," it's just bourgeois sexual revanchism dressed up in the garb of radical politics. As a political stance it's exactly as retrograde and reactionary as the "Johnbies" he pillories, the "SJW" flip of the coin to the "MRA," two halves of the same thoughtless feel-good Liberal identity politics that portrays problems as resulting entirely from actions performed by individuals out of some sort of inherent, essential quality of the person, rather than the result of a complex interplay of systemic variables.

Just like all reactionaries, he's comfortable in the system and enjoys the things it provides him, but has to Other-ize the origin of all the negative results that come of it and transfer them from the system itself onto some outside actor. His naive, bourgeois moralism prevents him from seeing the ultimate conclusion, that it's Capitalism as a system, which turns everyone in it into a commodity for someone else's profit. Instead he has to conjure up a fanciful vision of an all-encompassing Illuminati-esque conspiratorial Patriarchy (or I guess you could say, Illu-man-ati) that is exploiting women out of some sort of malevolence inherent to maleness, rather than face the fact that prostitution etc is just one facet of a totality of systematic exploitation, of women, of men, children, elderly, the living, and even the dead. No, it's a lot easier to just imagine a cartoonishly evil male supervillain than face up to complicity in the sort of system that makes prostitution possible at all.

But thinking and moral wrangling are hard. It's so much easier to make a bunch of self satisfied comics about punishing the evil manspiracy than to have to deal with cold, hard reality, with all its moral uncertainties and grey areas, and the fact that the "good guys" and the "bad guys" aren't readily recognizable by their obvious sexual characteristics.

I checked in on this because I USED to read Sinfest religiously. It used to be cute, and it used to make good points. Then the character "Glossy" showed up, and the creator started on his misandry crusade. He even started going so far as to mock the reasonable male fans who objected to his one sided pillorying of all things male. About 26 pages in. I stopped. It's not the same trash as back then; it's worse. bluerum makes a more informed and elegant argument than I can. He states in words what I feel about Ishida and what he did to Sinfest. I'm glad I stood up for my principles and stopped reading the webcomic years ago, and am saddened that the exodus of many of his readers at that moment in time has apparently had no effect at all on Ishida's consideration of his own positions and opinions.
